Save money by not buying paper towels and using rags to clean. An old t-shirt can easily turn into a rag to use around the house. I also use socks, if I buy some and don’t end up liking them, and they are great to slip over your hand to dust the house. Then when you are done cleaning wash the rags with biodegradable laundry detergent and line dry to save energy.

A couple of weeks ago I was at the store and saw a display of the new Clorox Green Works products. I needed more all-purpose cleaner anyway so I decided to try a bottle. It wasn’t anymore expensive then regular Clorox surface cleaner and I knew I would be doing something better for the environment. I was so excited to use it that as soon as I walked through the door I looked for something to clean. And I was amazed at how well it works and to think it is made from all natural ingredients from plants. It also has a nice fresh scent that is not over powering.
If you are having trouble becoming motivated to do a little spring cleaning then try using green cleaning products, which can be found at just about any grocery store, and feel good about cleaning your house with products that are safe for your family and the environment.

It’s a really good idea to clean up your trash cans now and then. You can use bleach spray and wipe them down on the outside. Fill with water and some bleach on the inside and let it sit for a while.
Once your trash can is clean…get organized. I buy a roll of trash bags for each can and throw it in the bottom of the trash can. It doesn’t take up much space and they will always be right there for you to grab when you take out the trash. It’s nice for a guest bathroom so people can dispose of what they need to without having to ask.

Easy tip from Jennifer W. in Denver:
put a couple of drops of dishsoap into a spray bottle with water. I haven’t found a product that works as well on mirrors and glass.

You should always shut the lid on your toilet when you flush. Flushing can make the water in the toilet mist and spray up to 20ft. away. It’s one easy thing to help stop the spread of germs during cold season. YUCK!
